My Future Classroom

teacher-humor.jpgPreventing discipline problems from occuring in your classroom is best created by planning ahead! If you master the essential teaching skills at the begginning of the year you will have fewer discipline problems because the students will recognize that YOU (the teacher) are prepared.

Teachers who manage their classrooms successfully:
1.) Display the proverbial eyes in the back of the head, a quality of alertness.
2.) Use individual students and incidences as models to communicate to the rest of the class their expectations for student conduct.
3.) Supervise several situations at once.
4.) Handle transitions smoothly.

Establishing Rules and Procedures
As a teacher, you should have clear, concise, reasonable rules that are few in number.
Examples of 5 Rules for elementary age students are:
1.) Be polite and helpful
2.) Respect other people's property
3.) Listen quietly while others are speaking
4.) Do not hit, shove, or hurt others
5.) Obey all school rules

MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENTS ARE WELL AWARE OF THE RULES
Try using bright colors and/or pictures to draw their attention to the chart.
